How to use

  1. Type the price the buyer pays.
  2. Type what the product and shipping cost you.
  3. Type the card percentage and fixed fee from your Shopify plan, not a guessed average.
  4. Read profit after those costs. It does not include ads, apps, refunds, or chargebacks.

Shopify does not take one marketplace commission the way Etsy does. The number that moves profit on a normal order is the card rate, plus the monthly plan if you spread that cost across orders. A $39 plan on 20 orders is $1.95 an order before any card fee. This page leaves the plan fee out of the button so you do not hide it inside a percentage you did not choose.

Worked example. Price $49, product cost $18, shipping you pay $5, card rate 2.9% plus $0.30. The card fee is $1.72. Profit before ads and apps is $24.28, about 49.6% of the price. If you also spend $4 on ads for that order, profit is $20.28. The calculator will not invent the ad cost.

Third-party payment providers can add a separate Shopify transaction fee on top of the processor. If that is your setup, add that percentage into the card rate field so the line is honest. Do not add it twice.

Common mistake: treating 2.9% as universal. In-person rates, premium cards, and international cards are different. Another mistake is ignoring refunds. A refunded order can still have cost you the product if you do not get it back.

Use this next to the Etsy fee calculator when the same product could sell in both places. Compare profit in dollars, not the headline percentage. A lower percentage on a higher ad cost is not a win.

FAQ

Does Shopify take 6.5% like Etsy?

No. Etsy's transaction fee and Shopify's card rate are different charges. Enter the rate from your own plan.

What rate should I type?

The online card rate on your Shopify plan, plus any third-party transaction fee you actually pay.

Does this include the monthly plan?

No. Divide the plan by your monthly orders and subtract it yourself if you want a full cost.

Is the result my bank deposit?

No. It is price minus the costs you entered. Taxes collected from the buyer are not your revenue.

Do I need an account?

No. The math runs in the browser.
