How to use
- Type a password you are testing, not one you use if you are on a shared computer.
- Read the length. Under 12 characters is the usual failure.
- A mix of case, numbers, and a symbol helps a short password and matters less once the phrase is long.
- Do not paste this into a site that claims to 'check the dark web' unless you trust them with the secret.
This page does not send the password. A breach lookup would. If you want that, use a service that publishes how it hashes the query, and do not type the password into a random box.
Length wins. 'correct horse battery' style phrases are easier to remember and harder to guess than 'P@ssw0rd'. The score here only looks at length and character classes. It cannot see that 'Password123!' is famous.
Change a reused password even if this score says strong. Reuse is the failure mode a length check cannot see.
