Your Etsy About Section: Where a Shop Becomes a Person

The About section is the only place on your shop where you speak as a person rather than as a shop. Etsy exists because buyers want to buy from a human, and the About section is where that human appears. Shops without one look like dropshippers; shops with a good one convert browsers who were comparing three identical products.
This generator writes one from five inputs. Enter your shop name, who you are, what you make, why you started, and how it is made. It produces a five-paragraph About section: an introduction, your origin story, your process, what buying from you actually means, and an invitation to message. Every sentence is written in the first person, because third-person shop copy reads like a corporation and corporations do not sell on Etsy.

The first two sentences do all the work. Most shoppers read those and skim the rest. Lead with who you are and where you are, in one line — "Hi, I am Sam, a potter in Manchester" — and then get to the product. A shop location is more persuasive than most sellers realise: it turns a listing into a parcel from somewhere.
Variation is a feature, and you should say so. Handmade items vary, and buyers who expected factory consistency leave one-star reviews. One sentence — "no two pieces are identical, the small variations are the signature of a human hand" — pre-empts that review and turns the same fact into a reason to buy.
Say what buying from you means. Questions answered by the maker. Mistakes fixed by the maker. Parcels packed by the maker. That is the actual difference between your shop and a marketplace reseller, and stating it plainly is the most persuasive thing you can do.
Keep it under 300 words. The About section is not a memoir. Long enough to establish a person, short enough to be read on a phone. Paste it into Etsy Shop Manager → Settings → About section → Your story, add a photo of you working, and update it when something genuinely changes — a new studio, a new process, a milestone worth sharing.
